Day 1 – 2nd March 2013 (Sat)
Had a nice journey of approximate 24 hours (including
transit period of 5 hrs) through Qatar airways and we reached Dallas airport
around 5pm (our second flight got delayed by 4-5 hours at Doha airport).
Journey was smooth enough since my wife was also travelling along with me ( so had good company ).
Mukul had come to pick us up and we finally reached Extended Stay America hotel
around 7pm.
Day 2 – 3rd March (Sun)
The first thing that we did was we went to Safeway to buy
bunch of grocery items needed for the upcoming week. It was cool outside. In
the evening, we went to visit Fair Oaks mall, had dinner at Subway and came
back. Usually, shops in the mall gets
closed early (around 7-7.30pm) over here since people need to get ready for
next day’s office work.
Day 3 – 4th March (Mon)
Went to office as usual and met David Denenberg, Tim
Wagonner and few others. It was nice meeting them again after quite a long time
(approx 2 years).
In the evening, we went to Safeway to buy another set of
groceries and had dinner at Firehouse Subs.
Day 4/5 – 5th /6th March
Usual trips to Fair Oaks mall. On 6th March 2013,
it snowed heavily (looked like snow gods were waiting for our arrival and since,
we reached late in March, it snowed in March. Usually, it snows in Jan/Feb and
March is cool season. )
Day 6 – 7th March (Thu)
Went to Fair Oaks mall and got the first T-Mobile Prepaid connection
in US for wify. Had a sumptuous dinner (pizza and cheese filled desserts) at
Cheesecake Factory.
Day 7 – 8th March (Fri)
House search was on. So, in the evening, we went to see a
basement in Centreville. The house was good but with respect to connectivity,
it was really difficult. No buses on weekend and late night ( after 8.30pm ).
We had to take a cab back to reach our hotel.
Day 8 – 9th March (Sat)
House search continues. We first went to Circle towers to have
a look at one of the house. Apartment
looked good to us. We had lunch in Jaipur Restaurant which is in Circle Towers.
After that, we went to see a basement in Falls Church. The landlady was nice
but the only issue was that it was far off from my office. Finally, we decided
to go ahead with the apartment that we saw in Circle Towers. Many Indians are
there in Circle Towers and it is really convenient to commute if we don’t have private
vehicle.
House search ends….
In the evening, we went to get Indian stuff from Patel
Brothers.
